Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle are using the Epstein files to attack the Trump administration.
This is despite the fact the Epstein files have shown that Trump has been telling the truth for years.
That isn’t a defense of the administration’s handling. I think the administration did make mistakes initially, which opened up for these attacks.
Attorney Jonathan Turley brought us new revelations.

American Attorney and Columnist Jonathan Turley wrote thisÂ
I have spoken with members who were part of the conference on the petition to force the release of these documents. They have told me that Massie, Khanna, and Marjorie Taylor Greene opposed repeated efforts to amend the petition to allow for greater resources and protection in the review of the millions of documents to avoid this danger.
In the conference, their colleagues specifically raised the danger of the release of entirely innocent names like the ones released by Khanna on the floor. They dismissed the danger and refused to amend the petition to avoid this type of error. (Indeed, in the hearing with Attorney General Pam Bondi, Rep. Brad Knott, R-N.C., makes reference to that failed effort to give the staff and resources to avoid the release of names with no connection to the underling criminal conduct).
Now, I want to be clear that unlike the lawmakers who are seemingly happy to use anything against for political gain, Turley is citing anonymous sources here.
As always, a level of skepticism comes with that.
Here are some reactions:
Why would Massie, Khanna, and MTG oppose amendments that would have allocated more resources to reviewing the millions of documents contained in the Epstein files? I think the answer is self evident. https://t.co/QWKk2wRqc3

Massie, Khanna and Marjorie Taylor Green were the ones who refused to amend the petition to offer more protection against outing innocent men.

Wait, what?
Massie and Khanna killed any efforts not only to add more resources towards the review process that would’ve helped the DOJ not be so overwhelmed, but also doing more to help protect people that were victims and or had nothing to do with Epstein?
What the hell? https://t.co/yez6zTs2bi

This entire situation is a perfect representation of what is wrong with current political landscape.
Here is how this process should have gone:
Trump orders a review of the documents.Â
Lawmakers who have an issue with there findings meet and discuss with the DOJ.
Over the course of the next few years documents are released without mistakes. Any evidence that can be used in a case against someone who committed a crime is used.
Protects victims and the innocent, while also holding those who committed crimes accountable.Â
The reason it wasn’t done this way is because this way couldn’t be used to smear Donald Trump. So US lawmakers decided to go down a different path.
