Canada supports U.S. President Donald Trump’s major attack on Iran, Prime Minister Mark Carney said Saturday, as he called for the protection of civilians as a new conflict erupts in the Middle East.
In a statement with Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand, Carney urged Canadians inside Iran to “shelter in place” after the U.S. and Israel launched nationwide strikes Saturday, with President Donald Trump calling for the country’s government to be overthrown.
Condemning Iran’s Islamic regime, Carney said Tehran is the “principal source of instability and terror” in the region, and alleged the country has failed to dismantle its nuclear program or stop supporting “terrorist proxy groups” in the Middle East.
“Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security,” Carney’s statement said.
If Donald Trump is able to succeed the entire world will be better off.
We completely understand those worried about what comes after regime change. We should all be praying that US troops don’t get killed in the response to these strikes. We also have to clearly point out that it was Iran not wanting to make a deal. Trump tried limited strikes. Trump tried diplomacy. Trump tried sanctions. Iran just didn’t want to give up its pursuit of nukes and missiles.
