Harvard President Takes Pay Cut

Inspector General Exposes Biden Admin
a report from the Office of Inspector General about the U.S. Department of Energy under President Biden found that the DOE awarded $7.6 billion to 105 projects aimed at improving the energy grid without proper financial controls or enough staff to manage the funds effectively. This funding was given out shortly before the 2024 election as part of a program called the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships Program.
The investigation revealed that the DOE’s Grid Deployment Office, which handled the funding, did not have a good system in place to manage risks or to ensure that taxpayer money was being used properly. This could lead to issues like fraud or waste. The GDO was also criticized for not following established financial guidelines known as the Green Book.
The report recommended that the GDO create a better control system and improve its processes by March 2026. While the GDO agreed to these recommendations, it disputed some of the findings in the report, claiming they had adequate controls in place, but did not provide proof to support this.

Gas prices are expected to stay low throughout the summer, averaging around $3.02 per gallon, with some days even dropping below $3. This is good news for the 69% of Americans who plan to travel by car this summer.
The drop in gas prices is attributed to increased oil production, which has lowered crude oil prices significantly. Currently, a barrel of Brent Crude oil costs about $65, down from $83.71 a year ago.
